Pandemic: Facing AIDS (Umbrage Editions, 2003) is a powerful collection of images from the global AIDS epidemic over the last twenty years. The book’s 256 pages contain 200 black-and-white and color photographs. Representing nearly fifty countries, the more than award-winning international artists and photographers include: Aleksandr Glyadyelov, Anita Khemka, Kent Klich, Antonin Kratochvil, Robert Mapplethorpe, Gideon Mendel, Duane Michals, Paolo Pellegrin, Gilles Peress, Pierre et Gilles, and Cindy Sherman. Also featured are essays by UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, Nobel-prize-winning novelist Nadine Gordimer, filmmaker Rory Kennedy, editor and curator Nan Richardson, and leading global economist Jeffrey Sachs.
